Prof. Matt Jackson in the Earth Science Dept is currently located in Iceland where, following an 800-year hiatus, there has been a recent resurgence of volcanic activity near the capital city of Reykjavik. Jackson has been involved in fieldwork in Iceland for 20 years, but this represents the first time he has observed an eruption there, and will be an important aspect of his ongoing research.
