Francisco Apen Accepts Princeton's Presidential Postdoc Offer
Congratulations to Francisco Apen, who has accepted a Presidential Postdoc offer from Princeton University! Francisco plans to complete his PhD in August; he is jointly supervised by John Cottle and Roberta Rudnick. His work aims to constrain the heat-producing element contents of the continental crust using U-Th-Pb thermochronology of accessory minerals in lower crustal xenoliths. For this, he has worked on samples from the Tanzanian, Siberian, Wyoming and Superior cratons. During his time at UCSB, Francisco has mentored a number of undergraduate students in their senior thesis work and is currently serving on the Geochemical Society's Diversity, Inclusion and Equity advisory committee.
