Cristhian Salas Pazmino

My research focuses on measuring seismic attenuation and velocity from teleseismic body waves to create tomography models of the mantle beneath different regions like Alaska and Iceland. These 3D models can provide information on the upper mantle's conditions, including rock properties such as temperature, melt fraction, and grain size. Knowledge of the thermodynamic state is crucial to understanding the mechanical response of the Earth at different time scales.
